How does the 18% gratuity work if you are on dining plan, have 8 people on reservation, but need the gratuity split between 2 checks?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Cindy!

Dining in Walt Disney World is always a delicious perk of any visit, but doing so with a larger party is even better!

Cindy, we often travel to WDW with a larger group or meet some of our extended family who live locally. As such, we've experienced the very thing you're asking about several times. Rest assured, your server is a pro at all things large party related, so they'll help you navigate that upon arrival.

Because yours is a party of six or more, the 18% gratuity will be automatically applied to your check. How each person pays their portion of the bill can vary, so your server will be able to divide that however you wish. When we're on a Disney Dining Plan, we sometimes order something that is not included in the plan--an appetizer, for example--so those charges will be added to our check along with gratuity.

When you are seated, just let your server know which guests will be on one check and which will be on the other. When you are done with your magical meal, they'll bring you two itemized checks with each person's orders listed on the check you've requested. This way, any of the additional charges are reflected in the correct total. Each can pay with cash, credit card, or even charge the balance of their bill to their Walt Disney World Resort hotel account if they've set up their accounts for charging. So easy!

Cindy, enjoy every moment of your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! As you continue pixie-dusting your plans, be sure to send additional questions our way. We love to help!
