My grandson loves Cars. Do I need a reservation for sos iCal Cars Lightning McQueen etc?

Ka-chow, Linda, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s great to see you hEAR again!

Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park is one of my favorite places to be! From the awesome attractions to the delicious food to the Character meet-and-greets, there’s truly something for everyone. Your grandson is going to have the time of his life exploring all that Cars Land has to offer! I’m happy to report that you won’t need to worry about having a reservation to meet Lightning McQueen and his friends at the Cozy Cone Motel. Lightning McQueen, Mater, and other Cars favorites rotate at this Character Experience spot throughout the day. I recommend checking the Disneyland app to keep track of which Characters are available. Simply select “Characters” from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen, then select “Show List” for a list of available Characters and their locations. I’ve never had to wait longer than about 15-20 minutes, but it varies based on the season. There's usually a Disney PhotoPass Photographer there as well, ready to nab the perfect picture of your pit crew!

As soon as you enter Disney California Adventure Park, you can make a Disney FASTPASS selection for Radiator Springs Racers on your mobile device by utilizing Disney MaxPass. This attraction tends to have a longer wait time, so I recommend heading to it first thing in the morning, or nabbing a FASTPASS. My children also adore Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters

For the ideal spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the sights of Radiator Springs, I recommend eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Flo’s V8 Cafe. My family loves sitting in the dining room that faces Radiator Springs Racers. This is a great spot for kids to be entertained watching the races while eating their food. Be sure to order a Flo’s Classic Shake with “Road Gravel”!

Lastly, don't forget to head into Sarge’s Surplus Hut for Cars-themed merchandise, and to check out an awesome replica of Radiator Springs on display. My children love watching the neon lights and signs light up one-by-one, just as they did in the Cars movie. You can also witness this unofficial Cars Land lighting nightly, just after sunset!

Wishing you and your little racer a vacation filled with adventure and excitement!
