My grandson has food allergies and cannot eat dairy, eggs or nuts. Do dining plans have food allergy alternatives?

    Hi Leila!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As a mom to a little Mouseketeer with multiple food allergies, our family has found that the Chefs and Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort have really done a fantastic job making sure my son feels safe and included with meals that he loves during our trip. Special Dietary Requests are taken very seriously at Walt Disney World Resort and a little planning and preparation will go a long way to making sure your family's trip is fun, tasty and safe. I like to use the Walt Disney World Resort section of allergyeats.com to help me decide what restaurants may be able to best accommodate our family. When dining at table-service locations, you will want to note your grandson's allergy on your reservation. Because you are accommodating multiple allergies, you can coordinate your trip with the Special Diets Team by emailing them at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com prior to your trip. Be sure to do this once you have already made your reservations. They will be able help you work with the Chefs at each restaurant where you will be dining prior to your trip so they are prepared to accommodate your grandson's needs. When you get to the restaurant, notify the server of the allergies and that you will be utilizing the dining plan and you will be able to speak directly to the Chef at your table to finalize your grandson's meal.

We have not used the Disney Dining Plan while accommodating my son's food allergies, but I did a little bit of research and found out that as long as the restaurant you are dining at accepts the dining plan, your grandson's meal will be covered by his dining plan, even if it is not a meal on the traditional "kids' menu". Please let me know if you have any additional questions as you prepare for your trip! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
