my Grandson is diabetic. We need carb counts to key into his pump so it will know how much insulin he needs. Are carb counts available at Disney restaurants as they are at McDonalds and other restaurants outside the World?

Unfortunately McDonald’s offers better information on carbohydrates than the restaurants at Walt Disney World. While some pre-packaged items will have carb info, the majority of food at WDW does not have this information readily available.

Please bring your own carb and nutrition guide. Some guests bring in their own food so they are certain of the carb counts.

    Some other tips:
Talk to your doctor about how the heat may effect blood sugar levels and whether you need to disconnect the pump prior to water and/or thrill rides.
Pack more supplies than you think you will need.
Bring current prescriptions in their original packaging.
    Plan to test often.
Label all of your supplies with your name and resort.
Do not hesitate to note on your Advance Dining Reservations that there is a diabetic in your party.
Ask Cast Members to point out sugar-free options for snacks in bakeries and candy stores.
Ask to speak with the Chef at sit-down restaurants.

Ask your doctor for advice prior to traveling.

Remember to utilize the First Aid Centers in the parks for your family’s diabetic needs. They offer a clean place to change an insulin pump infusion set, insulin storage and a safe place to dispose sharps.
