Bright Suns, Josephine!
Welcome to planDisney! We are DELIGHTED you stopped by and are excited to help you plan your OUT OF THIS WORLD adventure to
Disney World! It looks like you will be arriving in a few weeks, so we can't wait to "See You Real Soon!"
I know you can't wait for your grandson to build his very own lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop! From the moment the Gatherers whisper the story of the kyber crystals to that dramatic hum as the blade ignites, it’s pure MAGIC.
Now, the question is, once he’s finished making his new Jedi (or Sith!) masterpiece, what are his options to store or keep his lightsaber safe throughout the day? Most attractions at
Hollywood Studios will allow him to bring his lightsaber along for the ride. On gentler attractions like
Toy Story Mania,
Smugglers Run, or even
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, he can simply keep it across his lap or between his feet. Just be sure it’s inside the padded carrying case that comes with the build, which helps protect it and makes it easier to handle as you move through queues.
For the big thrill rides—the ones that toss you around the galaxy a little more—you’ll want to plan ahead.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is the one attraction that doesn’t allow you to bring the lightsaber aboard. The great thing is that Cast Members will safely store it for you until you return from your high-speed adventure.
If you’d prefer not to carry it all day, there’s another option worth knowing about. Oscar’s Super Service near the front of Hollywood Studios offers "virtual storage lockers" for larger items that don’t fit in standard lockers. When I spoke to a Cast Member, she explained a few important details. You can store anything that doesn’t fit in the lockers, but it must fit inside a large Disney World merchandise bag. You can drop off the lightsaber, pay a small fee, and that bag is sealed and stored for the day. This storage option is subject to change, so I recommend stopping by Oscar’s right after you enter the park to confirm that the service is available that day. It’s a super helpful option if you would rather explore hands-free for a while!
If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help in any way we can!
May The Force Be With You!
