Grandparents wanting to visit disney with our family which would be 5 adults and 3 children 4 yrs. and 2 -2 year olds. I figure one of the hotels near Magic Kingdom would be best for those ages. Any big differences between Grand Floridian & Polynesian

    Hi Paula,

The Magic Kingdom will definitely be the park that your young children will enjoy the most during a visit to Walt Disney World. Staying close to the Magic Kingdom makes it easier to return to your resort for mid-day naps, respites from the sun, and at park closing time. It also allows you to sleep in a little longer in the morning and still get to the park to enjoy the opening ceremony!

My family's favorite resort is the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian is also one of our faves. In fact, we just stayed at the Polynesian a few months ago. The difference of the resorts is mostly in the themeing. The Grand Floridian is elegant with Victorian furnishings. The Polynesian's decor is reminiscent of the tropical South Seas.

The lobby of the Grand Floridian is breathtaking. with enormous chandeliers, a piano player and even an orchestra that plays in the evenings.  The Polynesian's lobby is casual with dark woods and Tiki torches.

For amenities, both resorts offer monorail or boat service to the Magic Kingdom, a 24-hour quick service restaurant, table service restaurants including character meals, room service, pools with slides and zero-entry depths, beachside fun, and seaside fireworks views.

The Grand Floridian boasts more fine dining than the Polynesian. The Polynesian rooms are located in longhouses and some of them will be more of a walk to the main building than you would find at the more compact Grand Floridian hotel.

Let me know if I can help further with your decision. Either resort will offer a wonderful Disney vacation!
