Hello Rita!
Thanks for sending your question our way. You've come to the right place; this crew of Disney vacation planning experts has first-hand knowledge of nearly everything that goes on in the theme parks and resorts. My parents spend about half the year living in the Sunshine State, and I'd be happy to share how this works with purchasing theme park tickets for their grandchildren.
Walt Disney World offers
exclusive theme park tickets and Annual Passes specifically meant for Mickey Mouse's closest neighbors (residents of Florida or those who rent or own property in the state). All Guests ages 18 and older entering the theme parks with Florida Resident tickets must show a photo ID and
proof of residency. If the grandchildren are minors, they can visit the theme parks as their grandparents' guests when they travel together. Before initially using the tickets, the children and Florida residents must stop by Guest Relations, a theme park ticketing window, or the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs to present proof of residency and activate the tickets. My parents can secure tickets for my children when we vacation as an extended family, but when my parents aren't with us, I purchase standard theme park tickets.
I hope this is helpful, Rita. My parents love taking my children to Walt Disney World so much that they acquired
Disney Pixie Dust Passes. Now, they join us all the time, and when we're back home, they enjoy spending time in the parks as a retired couple. They especially love visiting
EPCOT during festival seasons and can't wait for this year's
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Even though they've been visiting Walt Disney World for over forty years, there's always something new to experience in the parks and resorts. Hopefully, the grandparents in your family have a fantastic time, too! Thanks again for writing to
planDisney, and if there is anything we can do to make future vacations even more magical, please reach out. We're all ears!
Betsy
