We’re the grandparents and we are bringing our daughter, her husband and 3 kids, ages 13,11,and 5. Last time they only had two and we stayed at art of animation. I’m considering PO riverside and contemporary garden wing. Riverside rooms look small.

    Hi Nancy,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How lovely of you to plan a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort with your daughter, her husband and their kids! Having stayed at Disney's Contemporary Resort in the Garden Wing and at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, let me share what I love about these resort hotels.

Disney's Contemporary Resort is all about the location. With Magic Kingdom a 10-minute walk or monorail ride away, we love to park hop back to Magic Kingdom every night. Although we love to be in the section closest to the main tower, we also love the rooms with a Bay Lake view. In the Garden Wing, we always request a room on the first floor. These rooms have patios and our rooms have always had a day bed. Finally, at Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel, we adore the dining options. Chef Mickey's and California Grill are our favorites. Dining at the resort after a long day is just the best. We also always do dinner during the Happily Ever After fireworks - just check the fireworks schedule and make a reservation for a time that is at least 30 minutes prior to the show.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is gorgeous. This resort is so relaxing! For kids, the pools are amazing, especially the main pool Ol' Man Island. The playground near the pool is super cute. The rooms are a good size and some come with a child-sized pull-down bed. The food court at this resort has several options and guests do have access to a table-service restaurant - Boatwright's Dining Hall. What I love most about this resort is having access to Disney's Port Orleans's Resort - French Quarter. On my visit a few months ago, we loved walking the grounds of both resorts.

Nancy, I am sending pixie dust your way trusting you will make the decision that works best for your family!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
