Can a grandparent, or other adult family member, accompany a child on a port adventure if the child's parents want to go do a different one? Related, can other family members check kids in/out of Kids Clubs?

    Ahoy, Ellen!

Welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like you’re planning a magical multigenerational adventure at sea—the kind that would make even the Darling family proud to fly off to Neverland together! There’s something truly special about watching grandparents, parents, and kids all discovering Disney Cruise Line in their own ways.

From your question, it sounds like you’ll be sailing with multiple staterooms, so first things first—you’ll want to make sure all reservations are linked. If you booked everyone under one reservation, you’re already ahead of the tide. If not, you can easily link them through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app by selecting “Add Reservation,” or through the website under “Already Booked” and selecting “Add and Link Reservations.” You’ll need the reservation number, birthdate, and last name of one Guest from each stateroom you’d like to connect. Once linked, your crew can coordinate dining, Port Adventures, and more—it’s like connecting constellations before navigating your voyage! And if anything gets tangled (even Rapunzel would sympathize), you can always call Disney Cruise Line for help from a friendly Cast Member.

Once your reservations are linked, your next stop will be when your Online Check-In window opens. During this process, the child’s parents will find a section titled “Traveling with Children: Child Debarkation.” Here, they’ll be able to authorize another adult—such as a grandparent, aunt, or uncle—to accompany their child ashore at port. So yes, if the parents want to enjoy a calm beach day while the grandparents head off for a zip-lining adventure, it’s perfectly allowed! Just make sure the parents select the correct adults during Online Check-In so it’s all shipshape when you arrive at port.

As for the youth spaces, there’s another step within Online Check-In called “Youth Club Activities Registration.” This is where the parents can list who is authorized to check the child in or out of the Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab. Anyone 13 years or older can be added as an authorized Guest—and each authorized Guest will need to know the secret word created by the parents to complete the pickup process. It’s a bit like saying “Open sesame,” only with a little more Disney magic and a lot more peace of mind. If there are any hiccups along the way, the parents can also add you as an authorized Guest on embarkation day when they head to the youth clubs for the first drop-off and completion of the final registration.

I hope this helps you swim through your planning with ease! Before you know it, you’ll be making waves, exploring new ports, and soaking up every fin-tastic Disney moment together.

Sea ya real soon as the tides turn toward thankful hearts and joyful journeys,
    Dustin
