Hi there, Chuck!
Welcome to planDisney. I am glad you sent us your question! What a lucky grandson you have! My kids love visiting Disneyland Resort with their grandparents. It is such a special experience!
I know bringing a grandchild to Disneyland for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. Guests can call the
"Vacation Packages" line to speak with a helpful Cast Member about package options. You can also book a Vacation Package yourself on the Disneyland website. I like making reservations online because I can see the different choices (and photos) before purchasing. Options include hotel, room type, ticket type, and more. You may want to go through the process of buying a Vacation Package on the website and then closing the session before completing your purchase if you would prefer to book via phone.
Information on amenities, pools, dining, and more for each hotel can be found on the
Disneyland website.
Pixar Place Hotel might be the perfect place for your upcoming trip! This newly rethemed hotel is the first hotel in the world based on Pixar Animation Studios films. Pixar details can be found throughout the rooms, and you might even run into Bing Bong or Joe Gardner during your stay. Guests staying at Pixar Place Hotel even have their own entrance to
Disney California Adventure Park!
Magic Keys passes are Disneyland's annual passes. Unless you plan to visit Disneyland multiple times over a year, you probably want to purchase
Theme Park Tickets instead. You can select the number of park days and choose between a One Park Per Day Ticket or a Park Hopper Ticket. There are two theme parks at Disneyland Resort - Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. I like Park Hopper Tickets because I can visit both theme parks at Disneyland Resort multiple times a day, starting at 11:00 a.m. and subject to availability. Valid theme park tickets and park reservations are needed to enter either theme park.
Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort kicks off early this year, on August 23, 2024. It is a spooktacular time of year to visit! If your grandson enjoys Cars, make sure to spend time exploring Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park. Some of my favorite, kid-friendly attractions should be updated for the season, such as Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween and Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree. In addition, the
Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event where the whole family can wear costumes, collect treats, and enjoy select attractions with low wait times. Tickets are not on sale yet, but keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for ticket information.
Chuck, I hope you have a wonderful trip with your sweet grandson to Disneyland Resort! If you have questions about dining, experiences, or things to do with a 5-year-old,
I am happy to help!
Magic Happens!
