Hi Susan!
A very warm welcome to planDisney! Thanks for dropping by with such a great question!
A little bit of magic returned to the
Disneyland Resort with the re-opening of the
Downtown Disney District last July! I’m so excited for your granddaughters to experience it with you! The event you're referring to is the limited-time experience at Disney California Adventure Park starting on March 18, 2021. The tickets to that event are sold out for now. But, the good news is you don’t need a ticket or reservation to enjoy the Downtown Disney District. While entry into the Downtown Disney District may be paused at times in order to limit capacity, and promote physical distancing. Entry will resume as soon as capacity permits.
If you have not visited recently, let me tell you what to expect! Upon arrival, all Guests are required to undergo a temperature screening prior to entering the Downtown Disney District. Next, you’ll be required to pass through a security screening. And, don’t forget that in order to gain admission, all Guests age 2 and older are required to wear a face covering that is secured with ties or ear loops. Guests may only remove their face covering while actively eating or drinking outside. I encourage you to check out the
website before your visit. There, you’ll find a list of all open locations and have a chance to review all the new guidelines.
I hope this answers your question! Please head back to planDisney if you think of any more!
