My granddaughter is going to WDW in December 2017, I want to get her some Disney gift cards, will she be able to put these on her magic band, and if so when she goes to pay for her own meal, how would this work?

    Hey, Margaret!

Disney gift cards are a perfect gift for someone headed to the most magical place ever! We always are sure to pack a few gift cards with us for our trips!

Your granddaughter will not be able to add the gift cards to her MagicBand for purchases. However, she can present her gift card once she ready to buy any items or at the end of her meal. Currently, gift cards are not permitted to be linked to MagicBands, only debit or credit cards.

To prevent your granddaughter from adding any purchases to her MagicBand, she will need to use your Disney gift cards for all of her purchases. They are easy to use and are accepted throughout the theme parks and resorts! If she happens to use her MagicBand for any purchases, she will need to stop by the front desk of her Walt Disney World resort and have a Cast Member swipe her gift card to remove those purchases from her MagicBand account/debit or credit card link to her MagicBand. If she is staying off property, her MagicBand cannot be used to make purchases. This feature is only available for guests who stay on property.

Margaret, I hope that your granddaughter has the time of her life! If you have more questions, before her upcoming trip, please stop by and visit with us again!
