    Granddaughter has multiple food allergies and our last visit was wonderful-very accommodating. She has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Will we be able to get carb counts? Same price for buffet meals-she won't eat much.

    Since a member of my family has Type 1 diabetes I do understand the need to know carbohydrate grams. Exact nutritional numbers are only available at Walt Disney World on packaged items; restaurants do not provide this information. We use an app such as Live Strong or My Fitness Pal to find comparable food items to estimate carb counts. Several small, easily portable books are also available that list carbs and nutritional items for fast food restaurants and commonly eaten foods to help you figure out what dose of insulin your granddaughter will need. Of course the chefs, managers, and servers at WDW restaurants will always be glad to help you anyway they can.

    Keep a close eye on your granddaughter's blood sugar levels. Since she will not be on her regular schedule and dong so much walking, blood sugar levels can begin to fall quickly. Do keep juice and snacks with you at all times, especially while waiting in lines. You do not want to be in the middle of an attraction queue when your princess needs a high carb item to remedy her low blood sugar and realize you have nothing.

    With just a little extra effort and preparation, your granddaughter will be able to fully enjoy all the magic the parks have to offer, so no worries! Please contact me if you have any additional questions.
