Greetings, Russell! I'm so glad you are considering a visit to the Disneyland Resort with your grandchildren!
I have stayed at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel myself, so I know just how to guide you to the parks from the hotel on foot. First, head out the back exit and turn right. There will be signs that point you to the
Downtown Disney District and the Disneyland Hotel. Continue along that path until you encounter the security checkpoint near ESPN Zone. Be prepared to have any bags checked and to go through metal detectors. After going through security, you will now be in the Downtown Disney District. Continue your stroll down through the Downtown Disney District until you reach the esplanade. This is the area between Disneyland Park (which will be on your left) and Disney California Adventure Park (which will be on your right). This walk will probably take you about 10-15 minutes depending on your pace and crowds.
Another option if you are headed to Disneyland Park would be to take the
Disneyland Monorail. The Monorail station is located right across from the AMC Downtown Disney 12 Theatres and will drop you off inside the park in Tomorrowland. You will need valid park tickets to board the Monorail here.
If you download the
Disneyland app, you can see a map view of the Disneyland Resort that will help you navigate. It will even show your location on the map once you are at the Disneyland Resort.
I think you'll find it's pretty easy to navigate once you've done the route once and since everything is so close together, you can walk all over the Resort in a matter of minutes. Have a great visit!
