Our Grand Gathering is considering the Safari Dinner Celebration. Is the tour the same as the Kilimanjaro Safari, or is it more in-depth? How does the Safari Dinner Celebration compare to the Wild Africa Trek? Too much overlap to do both? Thanks!

Hi Mark!  There is nothing better than sharing a trip to Walt Disney World as a "Grand Gathering"!  What can be more special than being in the most special place in the world with a group of people that are most special to you!  Congratulations!

I have several friends who have experienced the Grand Gathering Safari Dinner Celebration, and they have ALL had great reports to share!

The tour is roughly the same as the Kilimanjaro Safari, however, my friends have reported that their guides really took more time with them, made many extra stops throughout the Safari, and shared lots more in-depth information, taking time to answer their questions.

The dinner is at Tusker House, is all-you-care-to-eat, and offers a wonderful selection of the flavors of Africa.  There are also selections for those who enjoy more familiar, American-style food.  There is entertainment provided, and usually an opportunity for a personal meet and greet with a couple of characters.  My friends have described the event as a true "celebration"!

The WIld Africa Trek is an experience that is on a completely different page!  It is an "immersion" experience, traveled on foot, and also by vehicle (different than those used in the Kilimanjaro Safari), that allows you to really get up close and personal to the animals!  It will require some stamina, and an adventurous spirit.  Are you willing to wear a safety harness and tether to get REALLY close to some hippos?  Then this is the experience for you!

I recommend that you read more about the Wild Africa Trek on line.  Many people have shared their experiences, including our own Walt Disney World Moms Panelist, Bernie.  Just "Google" it, if you are interested, and then you can determine if this adventure is truly the one for you!

    Jambo!
