Hi Judy,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian.
I’ve had the chance to stay at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa during a few of my visits to Walt Disney World Resort and it truly is a fabulous hotel. There are times when I’ll take the Resort Monorail over to the Grand Floridian from Magic Kingdom Park, just to have a few moments to sit in that beautiful lobby and soak up the atmosphere…
From what I understand, it seems as though all of the rooms in the main building are now Club Level rooms. That said, you and your husband should have no difficulty getting around, even if you’re in another building. Both Sago Key and Big Pine Key are steps away from the main lobby and they have elevators and access ramps in case your husband is using either a wheelchair or a mobility scooter. Plus, I’ve stayed in the main building before and I find that it can sometimes take a bit longer to get an elevator there than in one of the outer buildings, which could be a distinct advantage for you during your stay. In short, if you want to stay in Grand style at the Grand Floridian, please don’t change your plans just because of this!
If you need any other tips to make your visit go even more smoothly, please don’t hesitate to visit the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities page. You’ll get all kinds of information about Attraction Access categories, Disney Transportation and Parking that should help you make the most of your stay.
And please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always so happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
