Hi Karen!
Welcome to planDisney! The Christmas season is my favorite time of year at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Everywhere you turn there are breathtaking trees, incredible displays and SO MANY SNACKS –– each one better than the last. But when it comes to Christmas at The Most Magical Place on Earth, nothing is more iconic than the life-sized annual gingerbread house in the lobby of
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of this showstopper during your upcoming vacation, I've got some good news –– even in early November, you won't be disappointed!
In recent years, the
holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort has offically kicked off around the first weekend of November, but decorations in the theme parks and some Resorts appear even sooner –– in fact, the magical transformation from fall to Christmas happens overnight between October 31st and November 1st at Magic Kingdom Park. The Grand Floridian holiday decorations also begin to appear in early November –– last year, the pastry team began construction on the annual gingerbread house on November 2nd and the house officially opened for business on November 11th, while the lobby's giant Christmas tree appeared overnight on November 12th.
That means you're in luck, Karen. Because you'll be arriving in early November, there's a great chance you'll be able to experience my favorite part of the gingerbread house –– watching it come to life! My family loves seeing the house take shape and speaking with Cast Members as they work during construction. They're always eager to share their stories and hearing about the months of preparation and energy that goes into the creation of the gingerbread house has given us a whole new appreciation for the beautiful centerpiece at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! If the gingerbread house opens during your stay, make sure to stop by the store for some festive holiday treats –– you can even purchase one of the house's gingerbread roof shingles to enjoy!
Thanks for dropping by planDisney, Karen. If you think of any more questions as you plan your upcoming holiday stay, please feel free to ask –– we're always here to help!
Have a Magical Day!
Amy
