Hi there, Linda! Welcome back to planDisney. There is no better feeling than having your Disney trips planned out, giving you some magic to look forward to throughout the year. An even better feeling is when you’re staying at one of my favorite hotels, the Grand Californian! Let’s go ahead and get those reservations ready so you can simply count down the days until you arrive.
First, it’s important to look at the type of theme park ticket you have for your July trip. With your description of having a maximum of 6 reservations, it sounds like you may be referring to the Inspire or Believe Key, which can hold up to 6 reservations at a time. If that’s the case, you would need to follow the
Magic Key Terms and Conditions when making theme park reservations. In that situation, I find it helpful to reserve your March park days first, followed by the July park days as they become available, and then as you enter the park each day, make another reservation for the July visit.
If you are purchasing
free-standing tickets instead, you could purchase a 5-day multi-day ticket and then add a 1-day ticket for a total of 6 park days. These tickets wouldn’t have the restrictions or blockout dates that might occur with a Magic Key Pass. However, it’s important to keep in mind that everything is subject to availability based on the calendar.
Another great perk of staying at the Grand Californian is the wonderful help from Cast Members. I spoke with a Cast Member about your situation, and they confirmed the steps above. They also shared that if you encounter blockout dates or have any trouble making reservations with free-standing tickets, you can visit the front desk during your stay and they will be happy to help modify or secure reservations for you. Unfortunately, they would not be able to modify Magic Key reservations.
While you’re staying at the Grand Californian, did you know that
Napa Rose has recently reopened after its refurbishment? Their Chef’s Tasting Menu highlights the fresh flavors of California wine country through seasonal ingredients that create a truly memorable dining experience. It’s one of my favorite restaurants to visit whenever I'm at the parks. Whenever I dine there, I often have a “pinch me, I must be dreaming” moment because just beyond the trees outside the window is where California Adventure’s
Grizzly Peak is nestled, making you easily forget that you're at the theme park.
Linda, thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your question. I hope you have a magical visit to the Disneyland Resort! If you have any other questions or need more planning help, planDisney is always here for you.
With a Sprinkle of Pixie Dust,
Bev
