Hi! I will be graduating with my PhD in Psychology in 2026 and I did my dissertation on Anxiety from the movie Inside Out 2! Where can I find a schedule or talk to someone about taking photos with the Inside Out characters?

Hello, Julie, and welcome to planDisney! First of all, I'd like to congratulate you on your upcoming achievement! I love that you wrote your dissertation around the beloved Inside Out 2 emotion, Anxiety.

Julie, you'll want to check the Disneyland mobile app on the day of your visit to see when and where Characters are scheduled to meet with Guests. Click on the map icon at the bottom of the screen (it looks like a checkpoint marker), tap on Characters (along the top), and then tap "show list." Unfortunately, it's not possible to know which specific Characters will be available in advance. We do know that Joy and Sadness from Inside Out have appeared at Pixar Promenade in California Adventure. I've even seen Anger there on occasion!

That said, I have a few ideas for you to keep in mind during your visit:

    • Take a ride on Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind at Pixar Pier. You can take photos next to the character sculptures in front of the attraction, too.
    • Browse the shops to see what Inside Out 2 merchandise you'll discover. I've seen some fun items over the past year, like the headband plush, shoulder plush, apparel, and more. At the time of writing this, the Disney Store even has an Inside Out 2 Loungefly Mini Backpack featuring Anxiety.
    • You are in for a treat if you haven't seen World of Color Happiness! It's such a fun show, featuring quite a few of the emotions from Inside Out and Inside Out 2! As long as you've entered California Adventure by noon, you'll be able to join a virtual queue to secure a spot in the preferred viewing area for the show.
    • For an extra special experience, consider the World of Color Dessert Party. This requires advance reservations. You'll watch the show seated at a table with a great view. Plus, you'll receive a box with snacks and desserts, drinks, and a collectible pin.
During your trip, make sure to celebrate your major accomplishment. Pick up a complimentary "I'm Celebrating" button – many retail locations and City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. have them. I'd also suggest making a reservation at a table-service restaurant – there are some locations where you can even pre-order a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake! It's a beautiful and decadent dessert that will certainly add a little magic to your meal.

Julie, on behalf of all of us at planDisney, congratulations! If you have any other questions, please reach out. We're always happy to help!

    Wishing you magic,
    Kriss
