Thank you for your question, Christine. I’ve always been amazed by Walt Disney World’s commitment to ensuring the magic is accessible to all. The Florida Special Accessible Rooms are just one way that they are doing so. I spoke to a Cast Member, Christine, and they told me that this particular
room type comes with grab bars around the toilet (and a lower toilet height), an open bed frame, and a little more space between the bed and the furniture than in a standard resort room. Unfortunately, they told me there are no grab bars installed in the shower/tub. If you would like grab bars in the tub or shower, you would need to request a wheelchair-accessible room with a tub or roll-in shower. If you think that you and your family would be better suited for a room in a different accessibility category, I highly recommend reaching out to a Cast Member in
Tickets and Hotel Reservations. You can explain your needs, and they may be able to make adjustments to your reservation (subject to availability).
