Is there government employee discounts? Not military

Hiya, Janel! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question. I’m delighted to hEAR you’ll be visiting the Happiest Place on Earth soon!

With a little Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo I had a quick chat with the Fairy Godmother, and she informed me that currently there are no discounts for government employees that she is aware of. However, she suggested checking the Offers & Discounts page to see if any might apply to you. For instance, Southern California residents in the zip code range of 90000-93599 may qualify for special ticket offers. Also, you may want to check with your employer directly to see if they have an employee discount site available.

I can share a couple of ways my family budgets for Disney vacations. We have the Disney Premier Visa Card, through which we earn Disney Rewards Dollars and they really add up over time. We earn 2% at gas stations, grocery stores, and several restaurants, which are purchases we make anyway. We use Disney Rewards Dollars towards buying tickets and making purchases at the theme parks. It’s easy to load the Disney Rewards Dollars onto a redemption card that you can use in the parks or online. We have a family trip to Disneyland Resort coming up in March and paid for one of our Park Hopper tickets with Disney Rewards Dollars we have been saving!

I also purchase Disney Gift Cards at my local Safeway throughout the year, as a means of spreading out the cost of the trip over time. It’s my way of having a Paradise Falls money jar, just like Ellie and Carl, to gradually save for our magical vacation! We use our Disney Gift Cards towards vacation packages, tickets, meals, shopping – it creates a lot of flexibility for us and helps us to budget for the trip.

A couple of things I like to keep in my backpack for our park days – reusable water bottles (the water refilling stations are open again) and a few snacks. This helps me subsidize my spending during the day. I keep the Disney Rewards Dollars handy to make sure I can get my fill of Mickey-shaped snacks!

Wishing you a magical, practically perfect visit. Come back and see us if you have any more questions! See ya real soon,
