Hey, howdy, hey, Juliana, and welcome to
planDisney. My kids were so annoyed by me because I wanted to take videos and photos all the time during our Walt Disney World Resort vacations. Now, they love that I did that and when I finally got my GoPro, well, that changed everything. I tend to place it on a chest harness and not on a pole because of some safety issues in the past on attraction rides.
The
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules are specific when they say that no "selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices" are allowed in the theme and water parks. The items you describe may be allowed in the theme parks if they are not "hand-held extension poles." However, tripods are allowed provided they fit inside a backpack and do not extend over six feet.
So is yours an extension pole or a tripod? Depends on how you use it, right? The tripod is stationary while the hand-held is intended to be mobile. The issue is the extension pole or hand-held may be an injury threat to you or another Guest. These photography aids are very situational and appear to be allowed inside the theme parks at the discretion of the security team. Here is my recommendation: pack the tripod in your backpack and when you go through security they will give you the final answer as to whether it is allowed in or not. If they do not allow it inside then you can store it in a
Locker Rental for the day.
On a personal note, I see devices like yours all the time in the parks especially from bloggers, influencers, and people who want to bring friends and family stuck at home along for the journey. Sometimes Disney is like Steamboat Willie - black and white, while other times like Fantasia - full of variation and color.
Juliana, planDisney is here to help you with any follow-up questions or for more Disney vacation planning tips.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
