Hi Amy, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I’m sorry you had a less-than-magical experience with your vegan Mickey waffles, and I hope I can help you find some plant-based pixie dust! I did some #resEARch to find you some delicious-sounding breakfast options around the Walt Disney World resorts. At any Table Service dining location, there should be a vegetarian and vegan menu available, and you are welcome to ask to speak to the Chef, who will often bring you something made-to-order based on your conversation. VIP – Vegan Important Person – status!
Kona Café is one of my favorite restaurants, and their amazing Tonga Toast (a delicious French toast stuffed with bananas and rolled in cinnamon sugar) can be made vegan. My personal favorite, the Macadamia Nut Pancakes with macadamia nut butter and pineapple sauce, can also be made vegan.
Just next door at Gasparilla Island Grill, there are two yummy-sounding vegan options available. One is a tofu scramble, and the other is avocado toast with vegan cream cheese.
Over at Boma - Flavors of Africa, my sources tell me that the vegan Mickey waffles are the best on property. The chef there can also make a tofu scramble, and the buffet includes plenty of vegan options, including the delicious friend plantains. Amy, always ask to have a Chef walk you through through buffets, as they can tell you what is vegan and can bring out items from the back, too.
Finally, I have heard amazing things about the Chef at Trail’s End Restaurant. I know it seems funny since Trail’s End boasts stick-to-your ribs BBQ, but apparently the Chef there is known for making phenomenal custom dishes for Guests with special diets.
Amy, enjoy your
vegan tasting tour! I’m wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
