Hi Julie,
Welcome to planDisney!
It looks like your trip to the magic is approaching soon! I am glad to see that you have registered for the
Disability Access Service (DAS). My family has used this service in the past and it truly makes our park experiences much more manageable. First things first, I hope you made some
advanced selections for DAS. If not, I highly recommend that you make those prior to two days before arrival using the DAS chat feature online.
When you arrive to a theme park, you can make one DAS selection at a time. We call this a "rolling" DAS because you can continue to make one as soon as you have completed an attraction for that "rolling" DAS. Also be sure that everyone in your DAS party has scanned in for the attraction. In the past, we have occasionally had someone not scan in correctly when we entered an attraction (keeping in mind that some attractions have required guests to scan in at two different points in the queue). If one or more of your guests is not "cleared" from an attraction reserved with your rolling DAS, you can stop by one of the Guest Experience Team areas throughout the parks to get assistance from a cast member. Once that guest has been cleared from that attraction, you should be able to make another selection and add them to the new DAS selection.
In our family, one of my teen daughters is responsible for making our DAS selections in the parks. She is great at remembering to do so as soon as we finish a ride. We also typically leave the parks after lunch to relax at the resort. If we plan to return to the park, we will go ahead and make another DAS selection. You can do that selection after the indicated time (as long as the attraction is available). So, if the DAS return time is 3:30 p.m. and we get back to the park at 5:00 p.m., we just go to the attraction when we get back to the park.
Julie, I hope this helps! I do have a few final notes - you should see the DAS link in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App when you are in the parks. You will use this link to make your DAS selections. Everyone connected to your DAS that has valid theme park admission needs to be in the park in order for you to add them to the DAS selection. We have also typically been able to make those DAS selections at park opening, so, if you arrive prior to park opening and do not see the DAS link in the mobile app, just double-check with a cast member in Guest Relations or at a Guest Experiences Team area. Finally, remember that the person assigned the DAS should be with you when you enter an attraction!
Happy planning!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
