Hi there Chris, welcome back to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. It sounds like you're getting ready for an exciting visit to
Walt Disney World, and planning ahead is a great way to make the most of every magical moment. Let’s dive into how park reservations and Lightning Lane selections work so you can feel confident and ready for your adventure!
At this time, Walt Disney World no longer requires
park reservations for most ticket types, including standard date based tickets. Park reservations are generally only required for special ticket types, such as student group tickets, annual pass holder tickets, convention tickets, or other very limited use tickets. If you have a regular ticket, you can simply enter the parks on the day of your visit without needing a separate reservation. For admission types requiring theme park reservations, be sure to check
reservation availability prior to purchase. Please note that theme park reservations are limited in number and subject to availability. Availability can change until the theme park reservation is finalized.
When it comes to
Lightning Lane Passes, there are a few differences depending on where you are staying. Guests of Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels like the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, and Shades of Green, can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass selections up to 7 days in advance of their stay, for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days). All other guests, meaning those not staying at a Disney Resort or select hotel, can purchase Lightning Lane passes up to 3 days in advance of their park visit.
Guests with a valid Disney Resort hotel reservation can begin making
dining reservations and
Enchanting Extras Collection experiences 60 days in advance of their arrival and they can book for their entire length of stay (for up to a 10 night stay) at that time. This gives Resort Guests a great advantage, allowing them to book all their dining at once instead of having to check back daily. All other Guests, those not staying at a Disney Resort hotel, can also make dining reservations starting 60 days in advance, but they must book each day individually as the 60 day window opens.
I hope you find this information helpful, Chris. Thank you again for visiting planDisney. We'll see ya real soon!
