Hi Joann!
The prepaid Visa cards work just like a credit card at
Walt Disney World. We have used them several times on vacations. There is no percentage or fee taken from them when you are using them, but I do know that some of the prepaid cards have a penalty if they aren't used within a certain period of time. You will have to check to see if yours do in the fine print of your cards. I highly suggest that you register your cards on the Visa prepaid website that is usually found on the back of the card. You can attach your billing zip code to it just in case a retailer asks for this information when making a purchase and you can also have easy access to check your balance at any time.
The tricky thing with these gift cards is that you need to know the exact amount on the cards when you go to make a purchase. If the card doesn't have enough on it to cover the purchase, it will be declined, so let's say you have $5.57 left on one of them and you're making a purchase for $10. You'll need to tell the cashier or server to charge exactly $5.57 first on the one gift card before you use a second form of payment. You can certainly use them to cover your gratuities since they work just like a credit card.
Another trick we've done with the prepaid Visa cards is to use them to buy
Disney Gift Cards. These are widely accepted throughout Walt Disney World and are much easier to use than the prepaid Visa cards. They can be found in grocery stores, Walmart, Target or even
online at Shop Disney and shipping is free.
Please stop back by if you have any vacation planning questions!
Have a magical day!
