Hello there, Caleb! Welcome to planDisney! I hope you're enjoying a lovely day in your part of the World!
I'm so glad you stopped by with this question today. Helping to make sure everyone in your family can have a magical time during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is job #1 here at planDisney. You'll find all the details on what you can bring to the theme parks with you on the
Property Rules, Policies & Regulations page on the Walt Disney World website, but I copied the information you're looking for here:
-
Suitcases, bags, coolers or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park, water park, or the NBA Experience. Loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers. Re-usable ice packs are recommended. As you note the last part about loose ice not being permitted, I do want to add that you can pop some ice into a Ziploc bag and tuck that into your cooler. That might be easier for you since the refrigerators in the rooms don't have a freezer, and you can always stop by your Resort hotel food court and fill a bag with ice on your way out. As long as the ice isn't loose in your cooler, you're good to go!
Caleb, there are lots of resources to help you manage your son's T1D during your vacation. If you have questions about meal planning, you can get in touch with
Disney's Special Diets team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com. Also, there are
First Aid Centers in every park if you need assistance, and Disney recently announced a partnership with
AdventHealth for Guest health care services if you find you need urgent care. Hopefully, everything will go according to plan, but it's good to know that help is there if you need it.
It sounds like you're ready to explore Walt Disney World with the whole gang, Caleb! I wish you a happy and safe visit, and I hope you'll come see us again if you have any more questions!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
