Good morning!!! Hope you're doing great!! I have a magic band from 2018. My account still lists it as active.. How do I know for sure that it will still work when I go in September 2024? Or do I need to buy a new one? Thanks in advance, Mariana

    Hey howdy hey, Mariana!

Welcome back to planDisney and thanks so much for stopping by with another great Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. Yee-haw! I'm excited to hear that you're planning to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth again in 2024! Mariana, I'm here to help you prepare for your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You've got a friend in me!

Disney bands are a fantastic way to access the magic during a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. As long as your current Disney band is in working condition, you're welcome to use it during your next visit! Mariana, the previous version of Disney bands (i.e. MagicBand, MagicBand 2.0) do not have rechargeable batteries, and their batteries are expected to last for approximately two years after purchase. If your Disney band was purchased in 2018, I recommend purchasing a new band to ensure it'll be functional during your upcoming visit.

Mariana, have you heard about MagicBand+? The newest version of Disney bands will offer you seamless theme park entry, access to Lightning Lane entrances (with purchase of Disney Genie+ service or individual Lightning Lane purchase), Disney Resort hotel room entry, and special interactions with your surroundings throughout the theme parks! These bands are conveniently available for purchase at most merchandise locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Before using your MagicBand+, I encourage you to link it to your Disney account using My Disney Experience, pair it with your mobile device, and fully charge it overnight. This will ensure maximum functionality of your new MagicBand+ and unlock its full potential in the theme parks!

I hope you've found this information helpful, Mariana. I'd like to wish you a rootin' tootin' good time at the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any additional planning questions ahead of your visit, please feel free to gallop on back to planDisney again anytime. We're here to help with any question you may have - to infinity and beyond!

    So long partner,
