Hi, there!
Rachel, I'm so excited to hear you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort with your kiddos in tow. There's a seven-year age gap between my oldest and my youngest, so we had to make some adjustments to our touring plans when we made our first visit as a family of five last summer. Disney's Rider Switch is a super convenient service for families like yours and mine! I'm happy to give you advice on how to use it.
To use
Rider Switch, approach the Cast Member standing at the entrance of the eligible attraction and request to use the service. It's important that everyone in your group is present at that time. One adult in your group will be assigned as the "Waiting Adult." This person will be issued a Rider Switch entitlement on their MagicBand or card, and wait with the 2-year old while the other members of your travel group enter the Standby line to ride the attraction. Once they're finished riding, the Waiting Adult can use their Rider Switch entitlement to enter the FastPass+ line with up to two Guests while someone else takes a turn waiting with your little one. This means that your 9-year old should get a chance to ride a second time as the Guest on the Rider Switch entitlement!
To maximize our precious time in the theme parks, I like to use Rider Switch and FastPass+ together. To do this, make a FastPass+ selection for the people in your group who you know will be riding first when using Rider Switch. Then, when you request the service, both groups will be able to access the FastPass+ line. I recommend that the Waiting Adult who didn't need a FastPass+ for the thrill attraction, use their selection on a family-friendly attraction that can be enjoyed with the 2-year old while waiting.
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Rachel. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
