Welcome to planDisney, Veronica! Thanks so much for coming to us with your question today. I totally get it! Helping decorate Walt Disney World for
the holidays seems like it would be pure magic, especially if you have an eye for design.
While there isn't a volunteer opportunity to help with holiday decorating, Disney does have a dedicated team of full-time Cast Members who work on holiday decor all year long. Believe it or not, the holiday magic doesn't just happen overnight, even though it feels like it does when
Magic Kingdom transforms from pumpkins to garland in just a few hours. There's actually an entire department known as Holiday Services, and it's made up of incredibly talented artists, designers, engineers, and craftspeople who plan, create, install, and maintain those stunning decorations across all four theme parks, the
Resort Hotels, and even
Disney Springs.
These Cast Members spend the whole year prepping for the holidays: designing new pieces, repairing and refurbishing decorations, and coordinating those famously fast overnight transformations. If your friend would love a peek into what the process looks like, I highly recommend watching the 1-hour special "Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic" on
Disney+. It gives you a front-row look at all the detail and planning that goes into turning Walt Disney World into a festive wonderland. Trust me, after watching it, you'll have a whole new appreciation for every twinkling light and sparkling ornament.
So while it's not something that guests can volunteer for, it's still so cool to know that the magic is made by such a passionate and creative team. Who knows, maybe your friend will be inspired to apply and become part of the magic herself one day!
See ya real soon, Veronica!
