Jaime from WA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I have a good friend who is about to embark on her first Disney vacation. I'd like to send her off with a Disney gift card to help pay for extra fun. Where do I get one and can she use it for anything in the park? Food? Souvenirs? Park tickets? Thanks!

Hiya Pal! Welcome to planDisney, Jaime. I'm so glad you are here.

I can't think of a gift that I would like to receive more than a Disney Gift Card if I were heading out for my first Disney Vacation (or any Disney Vacation for that matter). I can just imagine the excitement of your friend as she receives it. By giving a Disney Gift Card, you'll be sprinkling her visit with an extra dose of Disney Magic! What a thoughtful friend you are!

You'll find that there are many grocery stores, convenience stores, and even home improvement retailers that offer Disney Gift Cards for sale in a variety of amounts to make it simple to pick one up the next time you might be out and about running errands. My personal favorite way to purchase a Disney Gift Card is by visiting the website, www.disneygiftcard.com. You'll have a choice between purchasing a physical gift card that will arrive by mail or a digital gift card that will be emailed to the recipient. If you choose to order a physical gift card, you will be able to select from over 60 card designs to best suit your friend's style. Whichever option you choose, the gift card has no fees, never expires, and is available in set amounts from $25-$500.

My favorite part about a Disney Gift Card is that it can be redeemed in so many ways across so many Disney Destinations. So whether your friend will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, The Disneyland Resort, sailing with the Disney Cruise Line, or even doing some pre-trip shopping at shopDisney, you can rest assured knowing that theme park tickets, dining, and retail purchases are covered! So a coveted set of Mickey Ears, an extra churro, or even the gratuities onboard the Disney Cruise Line are all acceptable ways to use a Disney Gift Card.

And one last tip, if your friend happens to be visiting either the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort, please let her know that she can use her Disney Gift Card as a way to purchase items at participating Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering locations. She'll be able to use either the Disneyland app or the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney world to easily place an order and enter in the Disney Gift Card information when she checks out. It's my preferred way of ordering a meal while visiting the parks. It's convenient and cuts down on time spent waiting in lines so that I can head straight back into the fun.

Jaime, thank you again for visiting planDisney. I'm sending my wishes for a memorable trip for your friend, made all the better by the magic you made for her.

You've got a friend in me,
