What are good flight times for arrival and departure for cruisers? If we stay at a resort prior, rather than travel straight from the airport, does a bus take us to port from the resort or do we need to travel back to the airport? Thank you for any insight

    Hi Cherise -

Welcome back to the Moms Panel. Planning your Disney Cruise arrival & departure are absolutely key, so that you can make sure that you are not rushing yourselves. You are going on an awesome vacation, and your whole journey right before and right after still counts as part of the adventure. My family and I like arriving at least 1 day prior to the sail date. This allows us lots of wiggle time, just in case there are delays at the airport. You don't want to miss your embarkation day to a magical cruise and be stressed on the morning of embarkation. Just in case you fly in the same morning, arrival anytime before 9:30 am will work nicely too.

If you do plan on arriving the day prior and you make your pre-cruise hotel reservation at one of the Disney Resorts in Florida, your transfer from the airport to the hotel is complimentary on the Magical Express. Getting to the Port from your hotel on embarkation day will be an additional cost. Please call the Disney Cruise travel desk at 1-800-951-3532 to add DCL Ground Transfers to your cruise reservation. The cost is $35/person each way or $70/person round trip. You can arrange the ground transfers to take you from your Disney Hotel to the Port and from the Port back to the MCO airport.

This is a convenient service and includes baggage handling to take your check-in luggage from the hotel to your ship's stateroom. The motor coach also drops you off right in front of the check-in area at Port Canaveral. On your almost 1-hour long ride, you'll be relaxing in the motor coach watching Disney TV and finding out about what to expect at the Port.

On disembarkation day, try to get a flight that is anytime after 1pm. This should allow you plenty of time to get from the Port to the Airport.

Hope that helps, Cherise. Please let us know if you have additional questions that we can help with.

    Happy planning!
