Hey there, hi there, ho there Ken!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for sending your question our way! You have picked such a nice time to come visit us at the Walt Disney World Resort with
The World's Most Magical Celebration in full swing. I am so excited for you to make magical memories that will last a lifetime and I am thrilled to be answering your question today.
One of my favourite things about Disney is that it creates magic for everyone. As Walt Disney himself said: "To all who come to this happy place, welcome!" Part of this
commitment includes offering guests with disabilities different services and opportunities to make their visit to the theme parks and the resorts as magical as possible. Indeed, although Disney unfortunately does not offer discounts on theme park tickets,
Disney does offer many services based on the disability you have. For example, guests with mobility disabilities may
rent wheelchairs or Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) throughout the parks, use
Disability Parking and have access to
accessible restrooms and select rides. Another service Disney offers is the
Disability Access Service (DAS) which is specifically for guests with disabilities making it harder to wait in conventional queues for an extended amount of time. This service will allow you to select return times for your favourite rides and avoid waiting in line, although you will still wait the displayed wait times.
There are two ways to register for the Disability Access Service (DAS). First, you can schedule a live video call 2 to 30 days prior to your visit in which the person requiring the service will be registered and have the opportunity to select up to two Advance selections for select attractions. Second, you can see any Guest Relations cast members at the main entrance or throughout any of the four theme parks and they will be able to have the person and the rest of their party registered. Once you are registered, you will also be able to select return times through your My Disney Experience mobile app or simply see a Cast Member at the attraction you would like to go on.
These are only a few of the options Disney offers, so I highly recommend that you take a look at
Disney's Services for Guests with Disabilities to see what would best suit your or your party's needs. You can also reach out to the Disability Services by
phone or email, or talk to a Guest Relations Cast Member at any of the parks, and they will be able to answer all of your questions.
Ken, I hope this was helpful and that you can get back to planning your magical vacation as soon as possible. If you have any new questions in the time leading up to your visit, please feel free to reach out. You're as welcome as can be! Have a magical day,
Ariane
