Good Evening! We are planning a Disney vacation. We are purchasing a 10 day ticket pass. We are considering upgrading to an annual pass once we arrive. How is the difference calculated? Is it based on the total cost of tickets or daily ticket price?

Hey there! Hi there, Jessica! I am so happy to see you back at planDisney, where you are as welcome as can be. I am also thrilled to see you are dreaming of becoming an Annual Passholder. A whole year of magical memories awaits!

You can upgrade most tickets to an Annual Pass, and the amount paid for the ticket you are upgrading will be applied to the cost of the pass. For example, the current price for the Disney Incredi-Pass is $1,549 plus tax. If you spent $850 plus tax for a 10-day ticket, you would pay $699 plus tax, the difference between the ticket you bought and the cost of the Annual Pass.

A multi-day ticket has to be upgraded on or before the last day of use to be eligible. Although you could wait until that last day, I recommend doing this earlier in your trip to take advantage of the Annual Pass benefits, including dining and merchandise discounts. The effective date of your Annual Pass will be the first day you use your ticket, so why not get the full benefit of being a Passholder from the start?

If you become a Passholder, it is important to remember that theme park reservations are required. Since you are looking into this before your vacation, you can see the "fine print" of the Annual Pass Terms and Conditions. I also like to review the current benefits, as they are updated and help refresh my memory. Want to know another one? Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company® at The Landing at Disney Springs offers a 20% discount on non-alcoholic purchases, and the locations at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT have graciously given me the discount in the theme parks, too. Benefits change, but the day I stumbled upon this unpublished find made me happy.

Jessica, I hope this helps you determine if becoming an Annual Passholder makes cents for you and your family. I bought them thinking I would see, and we are going on nearly a decade of being a part of the Passholder family.

If we can help with any other questions, you know you have a friend in planDisney.
