Jambo Emma Jane, welcome to planDisney!
I’m so excited the countdown to your little ones’ first trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth has begun, I can’t imagine how thrilled they must be especially with Disney-based names - that’s practically perfect in every way!
Transportation from the Orlando International Airport with children can definitely require planning and I’m happy to help you. I have 4 children of my own and we’ve visited in all ages and stages. We’ve driven from Canada (that was a bit of a haul!) and travelled by air. When flying, we’ve rented a vehicle, used a rideshare service such as Uber and Lyft as well as used a third-party shuttle service. I’m not sure the ages of your children but if you have any that use car seats and you’d rather not worry about traveling with a seat or finding a service that has one, I’d recommend the shuttle option.
There are a few third-party services that provide transfers between the Orlando International Airport and Disney Resort hotels; my family’s favourite is Mears Connect. Mears Connect offers two experiences: the standard experience has a few Disney Resort Hotels on the bus route and the express experience will take you straight to the Lobby of your Disney Resort hotel. This service can be booked online through the Mears Connect website (I highly recommend booking in advance - your future self will appreciate it!).
Once you are settled in at your Disney Resort hotel, you will be able to explore Walt Disney World Resort via several modes of Disney Transportation. You can take to the sky in the Disney Skyliner, zoom to your next destination in a sleek
Walt Disney World Monorail, skip over the water in a
Water Taxi or you can enjoy an air-conditioned ride to all theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs with the
Walt Disney World Bus Service.
I hope this information is helpful and I wish you a magical stay at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Be sure to check out the animals on the savanna at various times throughout the day as you’re bound to see a variety!
Please revisit us again at planDisney if you have any other vacation planning questions, we are happy to help!
Kwa heri (it means goodbye in Swahili),
