Ahoy Mike!
Considering a Disney cruise? How awesome! We are giddy to hEAR you have your sights set on sailing with Captain Mickey with your son. If he is a huge Disney fan, then I think you have the perfect idea to give him a quality vacation that's filled with all the best of what you've come to expect with Disney...only this time at sea! And let me assure you, Disney Cruise Line does an exceptional job assisting
Guests with Disabilities.
One of the main reasons my family sails the high seas with Disney Cruise Line is their level of service and the deliberate efforts to ensure that all Guests have a WONDERful vacation. This applies to all who board the ship, but I can assure you it extends to families who are sailing with
individuals on the Autism spectrum. Be sure to check out all the
great accommodations and planning that Disney Cruise Line offers to ensure all Guests sailing with Autism have an incredible time onboard.
Also keep a weather eye for special onboard activities on your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app that your kiddo may enjoy like the "Family Movie Fun Time" in the
Buena Vista Theater. During these special screenings of first run Disney movies, the lights are kept on and kids of all ages are encouraged to sing along and dance in the aisles, without any worries of disturbing any other movie-goers!
Last but not least, you can contact Disney Cruise Line's
Special Services Team at (407) 566-3602 before your cruise. This team specializes in helping Guests who may need a little extra pixie dust while onboard. With them, you can discuss considerations for your child's needs and get more information on cruise activities. They can also steer you in the right direction, say in informing you of a chance to see his favorite character!
I sure hope that this has been helpful and that you will consider sailing back to planDisney if you have any additional questions as you prepare for your adventure at sea!
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
