Good afternoon from the UK! We visit Disney world in May23 staying onsite. Our first full day we are booked for magic kingdom. do you think we should plan a mid day resort break or have lunch at one of the nearby resort hotels?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Natalie!

Thank you for sending another great question our way. We are thrilled to continue to assist you as you plan a pixie-dusted Disney holiday!

I only feel like I am finally at The Most Magical Place on Earth after my setting eyes on Cinderella Castle. That is why Magic Kingdom Park is always the first theme park I visit at the Walt Disney World Resort. I am glad to hear you have planned to spend your first day at this iconic park. You will enjoy classic attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Space Mountain and experience new ones like TRON Lightcyle / Run, opening April 4.

I know nobody wants to waste any precious time while on holiday, but as a fellow international Guest, I would take advantage of complimentary transportation and return to my Disney Resorts Collection hotel for a midday break. Flights from where I live in Brazil usually arrive at Orlando International Airport late at night, so I prefer to spend my first day relaxing by the pool and visiting Disney Springs. I have already spent the first day of a Disney holiday at a theme park, but I had to return to my Guest room for a nap after lunch. I believe resting during the hottest hours of the day could benefit your travel party because you will likely enjoy the park even more later in the day feeling rested. Since you are visiting from the UK, you will also need to adjust to a new time zone.

If you decide not to return to your Disney Resort hotel for a midday break, I recommend making lunch reservations at a table-service restaurant where you can escape the heat and relax. Be Our Guest Restaurant and Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen would be my options for lunch inside Magic Kingdom Park, but I highly recommend Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You can take the monorail to the hotel, enjoy a delicious meal, stop by Pineapple Lanai after lunch for a DOLE Whip, relax on the beautiful resort grounds, and return to Magic Kingdom to enjoy the rest of your day.

It was a pleasure answering your question, Natalie. I hope this information is helpful and that you come back to visit us real soon with more questions. We are delighted to help!

    Best magical wishes,
