Good afternoon! I have a question regarding the Salute to Service tickets. I am the service member, but also a passholder; do I need to have a Disney Armed Forces Salute ticket for myself to activate Salute Tickets for my mom and sister?

    Hiya Anthony,

Welcome to planDisney! First, let me say thank you so much for your service. As the child of a retired United States Air Force Colonel, I am always grateful for all our servicemen and women do for us both at home and abroad. I love that Walt Disney World Resort celebrates the Armed Forces. One of my favorite traditions at Walt Disney World Resort is the Flag Retreat at Magic Kingdom Park. Not many people take the time to observe it, but it is always a stunning reminder of patriotism and a tribute to those who have or are currently serving.

According to the Disney Military Salute Tickets guidelines, one of the tickets (up to six total may be purchased) must be used by the Eligible Service Member or their spouse. The remaining tickets can be used by friends or, in this case, your mother and sister. You will also need to be present to activate the Disney Military Salute Tickets at the time of purchase and when they are used by showing your valid military identification. So, unfortunately, you would need to purchase a Disney Military Salute ticket and utilize it in place of your Annual Pass to buy tickets for your family. If you are still interested in purchasing the Disney Military Salute Tickets, I recommend purchasing them through Shades of Green if you are able. Theme Park Tickets ordered through Shades of Green arrive already activated and ready to be used, which is such a time saver when you get to the Theme Parks. As an Annual Passholder, you already know this, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you to make Disney Park Pass Reservations for your visit. It is always heartbreaking when someone plans an entire vacation and finds out at the last minute they aren’t able to enter the Theme Parks because they forgot to reserve Disney Park Passes (especially in the summer).

I hope I’ve answered your question well, but if there is anything else you need, please come back and see us!

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
