Hiya Karen! Welcome to planDisney!
I'm excited about your upcoming stay at
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort later this year! This has become one of my favorite resorts and I just recently returned from a stay here over the holiday weekend. The area surrounding Old Port Royale is absolutely dreamy and has everything you could possibly want. The main pool is located here, along with Centertown Market and Banana Cabana. We spent much of our time in and around this central hub!
During my recent trip, I stayed in the Aruba section of the resort and could not have loved the location more. It was a short walk to the
Disney Skyliner station and to Disney's Riviera Resort, which has a ton of delicious food offerings. Our room was not recently updated nor do I believe a majority of the resort rooms have been in recent years. I did notice that the Jamaica section of the resort had some barricades surrounding certain buildings. If a refresh is occurring, it may be beginning in this area.
The Trinidad section of the resort has been completed and, as you mentioned, is themed after The Little Mermaid. These rooms are gorgeous, with bright and airy touches throughout. It was a big change from the pirate-themed rooms that had a more dark and rustic color scheme.
Beginning in January 2024, the
Fuentes del Morro Pool will be closed for a refurbishment. It is expected to last until April of the same year. With your visit upcoming in December, this will not affect your stay and you'll be able to enjoy a full array of the recreation and amenities at Caribbean Beach Resort.
Karen, if you wish to request a specific section of the resort, I suggest calling the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations line and speaking with a Cast Member. While room requests are not guaranteed, they will take them into account when assigning your room.
Have a magical day!
Greg
