we have never gone to disney world but have been to the disney land, would you recommend staying at a hotel at disney world? and which one?

    Hi Kelley!

I am a huge Disneyland fan and lately it seems like I've been going there more than to Walt Disney World.  I have been to Disneyland over 50 times and I've never stayed in a Disneyland owned hotel (unfortunately) because there are so many non-Disney owned hotels within walking distance that are at a good value.

However, my family and I always try to stay on property when visiting Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World is huge compared to Disneyland.  If you don't have a car, staying in a Disney owned hotel is critical to getting around easily.  While off property hotels sometimes offer shuttle services, I have found them to be inconsistent and they typically don't run as frequently as Disney buses.  Extra Magic Hours is also a big perk for staying on property!

Your budget may be a factor in where you stay.  Disney has several classes of resorts.  My favorite Value Resort is Pop Century.  My favorite Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside, especially the Alligator Bayou section of that resort.  My favorite Deluxe Resort is the Wilderness Lodge with the Beach Club being a close second!  If you enjoy the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland, you will feel right at home at the Wilderness Lodge!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
