Hey there Nicholas!
May I share a little secret with you? Even though there are so many amazing projects developing at Walt Disney World Resort right now (Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, new Disney Vacation Club resorts), there are none more exciting to me than the highly anticipated
Disney Skyliner Transportation System. I can't wait to ride a gondola from
Disney's Pop Century Resort to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
In early announcements about the Disney Skyliner Transportation System it was suggested that construction on the project would likely conclude in the fall of 2019. However, there is no firm opening date. When I was at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot last month, it was really exciting to see the progress that has been made with the infrastructure necessary for the gondolas to traverse the sky over Disney property.
Since Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort will share a Skyliner station, it looks like guests will board the gondolas either on or near Generation Gap Bridge where it crosses Hourglass Lake. I haven't seen the station site personally but it is the only logical place for the station given the two resorts will share it.
We have received no word that Disney's Pop Century Resort will redistribute guest rooms among the preferred and standard categories when the Disney Skyliner Transportation System opens. Since preferred rooms are typically closest to Classic Hall, the current room classifications may remain the same. However, we don't yet know if that will be the case.
I hope you and I will be riding a gondola soon!
Best wishes,
Jill
