Hey Howdy Hey Dr. Chester and welcome to planDisney!
There is so much happening right now and in the near future at Walt Disney World Resort, it is such an exciting time to visit Disney World. As we continue to work through the post-COVID-19 demand, I would have to say it has been uncharacteristically busy at the resorts for an uncharacteristically long time. It is seeming demand continues and the traditional "slow times" in Walt Disney World are not as slow as they used to be! Let's talk about options when it comes to booking a resort for early December.
When it comes to booking your trip to Walt Disney World with the goal of being onsite, that is where to start. If your top resort is booked I would try to expand what you are looking for. If the Magic Kingdom resorts are what you are looking for, check out
Disney's Contemporary Resort or
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. If those are taken, try any of the Deluxe resorts. One thing about your reservation is that you can change or modify it at any time! Let's say the only availability at this time is at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is great by the way. If you see that next week, or next month for that matter, there is availability over at the Grand Floridian, then you can change resorts from your
My Disney Experience account.
Once you have your reservation and it is linked to your My Disney Experience account, go to the "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets" section. Look on the far right and you should see a blue hyperlink to "Change or Modify Reservation". There you can change the resort accommodations to anything with availability.
If your schedule allows, you can also try to change the dates you are looking for. Maybe try changing weeks if you can to see if anything different is available. Sometimes changing things by one day makes a big difference. One thing my family and I enjoy is doing split stays. Having our week split between two resorts gives us time to explore and experience something new on one end and the other half, we get back to our favorite, the Polynesian! This may also help you increase your chances of getting some availability as your dates are less numerous. You can also divide your trip in half and if you notice the full-time becomes available at the Grand Floridian, you can always rebook it for the full experience at the Grand Floridian.
During different times I would advise you to hold out a few more weeks to see if anything does open up. The way demand for the resorts has stayed hot for the good part of 2022, I would just try to get what you can and upgrade from there. If the worst should happen and availability at the Grand Floridian does not open up, you still will be onsite, still, have access to all the amenities of being at a Disney resort including transportation throughout property and never have to leave the Magical bubble of Disney World!
I hope this information helped plan your trip later this year. Best of luck as you continue to move forward with your plans and if you have any further questions, please feel free to stop back and let us know, we would be happy to help.
Have a Magical Day,
Nick
