If we go to WDW in Sept. 2012 and get offered a free dining plan and we stay at a value resort are we able to upgrade the dining plan to the basic? I understand if you stay at a value you just get a quick dining plan. Thanks

Hi Heather!  Yes you are correct that Value resort guests will be offered the Quick Service Dining Plans. You are able to upgrade to the Disney Dining Plan or the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan but simply paying the difference in the value. They are used to many of the guests wishing to do this and it would not be unusual for you to ask but you need to understand it will be necessary to spend more to get the bigger plan.  Keep watching for news of Free Dining. So far we have not heard anything but things change and things happen quickly.

If you booked your trip as a base package it is very easy to switch to Free Dining.  If you booked your stay as room only you will end up having to cancel that reservation and re-book. Deposits will be refunded and not transferred so be aware of that. Hope this helps in your planning!
