How do I go about using my DVC points to book a reservation at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier in Anaheim, CA? Do I need to call the DVC membership number or can I book online?

    Hi Channing!

Thanks for bringing your Disney Vacation Club question to planDisney.  I'm so excited to hear that you're planning a visit to Disneyland Resort –– there are so many exciting things going on right now!  At the top of that list for me is the Main Street Electrical Parade, which just made its debut at the end of April. This is one of my favorite nighttime spectaculars across all of the Disney Parks, and while I was sad to see it leave Walt Disney World, I'm so glad it's found its way back to Disneyland Park, once again.  If you'll be visiting the parks during your upcoming stay, be sure to check it out!

One of the things I love most about Disney Vacation Club Membership is having the flexibility to use my Vacation Points in so many different ways, whether it's at a DVC Resort, setting sail with Disney Cruise Line, or staying at another Disney Resorts Collection hotel.  But unlike Disney Vacation Club Resorts, which can be booked online, Disney Collection exchanges, like Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, have to be booked directly with Member Services.  You can view the Points Charts for these stays online, and when you're ready to book, simply give Member Services a call at (800) 800-9800 to begin the reservation process.

Since Disney Collection exchanges work a little differently than DVC reservations, let me share a few details about the process to keep in mind.  Each confirmed exchange reservation requires a non-refundable $95 transaction fee and most reservations are subject to the Rule of Four, which means they can't be booked during the last four months of your Use Year if you'll be traveling during that year.  Disney Collection exchanges also require you to convert your Vacation Points to Reservation Points.  Once that happens, those Points can no longer be used to book Disney Vacation Club reservations.  That means if you need to modify or cancel your reservation, those Points expire at the end of the Use Year, they can't be banked, borrowed, or transferred, and they can only be used to book reservations for another Disney Collection exchange.

I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney, Channing.  I hope this helped to answer your question, but if you think of anything else, please feel free to visit us again –– we're always here to help!

    Happy Planning,
    Amy
