Can I go to the ticket booth at Disneyland and get Magic Key Passes but use disney gift cards for the down payment?

    Hi there, Ashley!

Welcome to planDisney. Your countdown calendar must be buzzing with just five days left until your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

With Magic Keys currently on sale, we have been getting a lot of questions from Guests around how and when to purchase them, so you came to the right place. While the technical answer to your question is "yes", there are a few things to consider. Happy to walk you through them!

I love using Disney Gift Cards towards hotel stays and theme park tickets. It's a great way to spread out some of those payments. When it comes to Magic Keys, a gift card can be used to purchase a key online or in person at the ticket booth. Gifts cards can only be used towards the purchase of new keys (not renewals), and only one gift card can be applied up to a maximum value of $1,000. If you have multiple cards, you would need to transfer the balances to one single card. You can do this ahead of time via the Disney Gift Card website by navigating to "My Cards". Depending on where and how some gift cards are purchased and activated, some cards may not be eligible for transferring and only full balance transfers are permitted.

We never know how long Magic Key sales will remain open, so there is a possibility that by the time you are on property they will no longer be available. If you are able, I highly recommend making the purchase online while sales are still open. There is a very handy Magic Key Buying Guide on the website to walk you through the process. Similar to going to the ticket booth, the same rules apply around using a gift card when purchasing a Magic Key online. Only one can be used at a time up to a maximum of $1,000.

I'm going to think positively and assume that you will have a key to the kingdom in your hand soon, Ashley! Be sure to keep up to date on the latest news and offerings for Magic Key holders by following the Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account or popping into the Magic Key Portal on the mobile app. There is so much magic to uncover from exclusive merchandise, photo-ops, and giveaways. I absolutely love taking a break from the park hustle and bustle at the Magic Key Terrace in California Adventure. It's the perfect oasis to regroup, hydrate, and grab snack before heading back out into the parks.

Ashley, I hope this was helpful in your planning. If you need any more tips and tricks, we are always here for you at planDisney.

    Magic awaits,
    Tara
