Leanne from Queensland Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Can we go to both parks on the same day with a Hopper ticket? Do we have to book for world of colour? Can we book the Genie+ tickets on the day when we get to the gates?

Hey there, Leanne. Welcome to planDisney. It looks like you are planning a magical visit to the Disneyland Resort and we're so glad you brought these questions to us. We are delighted to help you plan.

A Park Hopper ticket is a great way to cover a lot of ground during your visit. With this type of theme park ticket, you will be able to access both theme parks throughout the day. You will start by making a theme park reservation for the park where you will begin your day. Once the clock strikes 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, you can start hopping between the two parks as you please. Park hopping is so easy at the Disneyland Resort with just a quick 10(ish) minute walk from one park to the other.

Unlocking the phenomenal cosmic powers of Disney Genie+ Service is another great way to maximize your time during your visit. You can purchase Disney Genie+ Service as an add-on when you initially purchase your theme park tickets, or you can add the service on the day of your visit. To purchase the service on the day of your visit, everyone will need to be scanned into the parks for entrance first. You will find the option to purchase in the Disneyland app. Be sure to also take advantage of the unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads from the day. Pictures are my favorite souvenirs from trips and a great way to look back on all of your magical memories.

I'm so glad you asked about World of Color. This is a fantastic entertainment offering in Disney California Adventure Park. There are a couple of ways to secure some great viewing for this nighttime spectacular. The first is with a World of Color Dessert Party reservation. This option provides a package that includes desserts and cheeses, beverages and reserved seating in the World of Color preferred viewing area at Paradise Gardens Park. Each person in your party must purchase a Dessert Party Package and reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance of your visit. The second option is to use the Virtual Queue to gain access to a preferred viewing area. This option is complimentary and can be found in the Disneyland app. I've used this many times during my visits to the resort and have enjoyed some pretty great spots to view the show. I'm not sure exactly when you are planning to visit, however did notice that World of Color - ONE will be closed for refurbishment from January 8 through February 29, 2024.

I've mentioned the Disneyland app a couple of times. It's a great tool for your visit so be sure to download the app upon your arrival. In the app, you'll find an interactive map of the resort, attraction wait times and the ability to mobile order food and beverage to further help reduce wait times. The app is also required to use the Disney Genie+ Service.

You're already off to a great start, Leanne. Park Hopper tickets, Disney Genie+ Service and World of Color viewing are all ingredients for making a practically perfect Disney day! There's a lot of information here, so if you have any questions about any of this, please come back to visit us. There's no limit to how many questions you can ask and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to book the most magical vacation to the Disneyland Resort. Sending you all the pixie dust and happy planning!
