Hi Katherine,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question! I’m from Canada so I completely (sadly?) understand the fun that can be had when travelling during the winter months…
From what I understand, you should be good to go to purchase your tickets for
Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park the day of the event, as I believe that these Special Events rarely sell out. That being said, because the advance purchase price is cheaper, I can understand why you’d want to purchase them ahead of time.
Special Event Tickets are typically non-refundable, which means that even if inclement weather is keeping you from travelling to the Central Florida area, you may not be able to get a refund for your purchase (though, you might be able to get one via your travel insurance provider, should you choose to purchase it). That being said, I’ve had instances where bad weather has kept me from getting to Walt Disney World Resort on time, and
Guest Relations has typically been very understanding and made an exception to refund some of the experiences I’ve had to miss due to travel disruptions that were beyond my control.
Bottom line: if having confirmed tickets to the event and saving a few dollars is worth the potential risk to you, then I’d recommend purchasing your tickets in advance. Otherwise, you should likely be good to go to purchase them the day of the Disney After Hours event that you’d like to attend in February (but I can’t make any guarantees that the event won’t sell out).
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
