    Where can I go to figure out the ins and outs of Genie Plus service?

    Since the arrival of the Genie program at Disney, pretty much every fan site on the planet has offered up their take on the program. While I find many of these to be interesting and even useful reads on how it all works, I am glad to share with you my overview of the plan, with some links to pages that will give you more of the official word on how it all works.

    I find it easiest to break the program down into 3 component parts

    • Disney Genie: The basic Disney Genie service is free, and it runs within the My Disney Experience App. It serves up a daily itinerary for you, including dining and attraction recommendations based on your preferences. The recommendations come with valuable information like wait times, and links to online food ordering.
    • Disney Genie+: If you pay to add the Disney Genie+ option, you can use the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane entrances for a reduced wait time. You can choose the next available boarding time at any of the 40 attractions currently listed across the four parks. You book that next magical experience, and then get to enjoy some other activities in the park until your arrival time comes due. 
    • Individual Lightning Lane: These are typically 1 or 2 of the more popular attractions at each of the given parks where you can pay for an arrival window time. The prices vary, based on demand, and this can help you lock in that "Must Do!" experience that was at the top of your bucket list. You can purchase these, even if you are not using Disney Genie+. If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel you can make an Individual Lightning Lane purchase starting at 7 am the day of your visit, while other guests can start ordering when the park opens. 

    Make sure you have the My Disney Experience App on your smart phone before you arrive. The Disney Genie service is great at giving you ideas on what to do next, and I love the linking to nearby counter service meals as well as helping you with ordering your food with the Mobile Online Ordering service.
