Could we go out of Epcot on Christmas Day 2011 and eat at Whispering Canyon for dinner and then get back into Epcot for Illuminations? If they close for capacity, can we still get back in? Thanks for your help! :)

    Hi Christine!

Unfortunately, the answer is "no".  If Epcot closes for capacity then they won't allow any guests to enter the park until it re-opens.  That includes guests who visited in the morning but who left for any reason, including dinner.

Based on my experiences, Epcot seldom closes due to capacity.  It can handle the largest crowds at Walt Disney World.  However, nobody can predict the future, so it might close on Christmas Day.  My recommendation is if you really want to be there for Illuminations then you should just stay in the park.
