DH and I want to go to DW this June. Struggling with where to cut cost. Want to stay on property. Should I go for a value resort and save money there? Should we stay at the Swan/Dolphin where I can get the teacher discount? How worth it is the dining plan?

Hi Amanda!  Although it becomes a personal decision I would choose the Swan and Dolphin for the same pricing over one of the value resorts.  I love the location of these resorts being you can walk to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios or take the water taxis.  There is the Disney bus transportation to all other locations on property for you to use.

These resorts have some great restaurants as well as a wonderful spa if you can take time for some pampering. The decor is a little bright for my taste but the rooms are adequate and the hotel amenities are good.

My family never uses the dining plan as we prefer to dine when and where and how much we wish to during our vacations.  We don't enjoy keeping track of dining credits or stacking up snacks on our way home just because we didn't want them during the week.  We usually book one reservation table service meal a day and then do quick service for lunch and something simple in the room for breakfast.  Other families enjoy coming knowing the entire vacation is paid for so they don't have to worry about a thing. It certainly becomes a personal preference.
